LOCAL weightlifter Josh Summersgill is celebrating after winning a gold medal and breaking two British records at the British Masters Weightlifting Championship in Birmingham recently.

Josh from Great Sankey, Warrington, won Gold in the Men’s 79k category in the M35 category (Male 35 years and over). He snatched 105, 110 and finally 115 kilograms in three snatches.
Then on his clean and jerks, he managed 136, 141 and 144k which gave him a grand total of 259 kilos.

The second Clean and Jerk 141k broke the Clean and Jerk record, and the 144k with his total of 259k broke a second British record for his 259k total.
