POLICE at Warrington are investigating two robberies were occurred within minutes of each other – and could be linked.
Both took place last night (Sunday) in the Orford Lane area.
The first was around 8.40pm when a man entered a Co-op store, went behind the till area and produced a knife.
He threatened staff, demanded money and escaped with a three figure sum of money.
The offender was dressed in a black, hooded jacket and use a pair of tights to conceal his face.
Two shop assistants, a woman aged 24 and a man aged 23, were uninjured but badly shaken.
A few minutes later, a woman was approached on Norman Street, near to Evans House on Orford Lane, by a man on a pushbike.
The man made threats and demanded she surrender her handbag. He stole the bag and cycled off in the general direction of the town centre. Although unhurt, the victim, aged 30, was traumatised by the incident.
Detectives are exploring whether the two incidents were linked and appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or any passing motorists who may have seen anyone behaving suspiciously to contact Warrington CID on 0845 458 0000.
