CRAIG Barnard, coach at Stockton Heath Tennis Club, has been named Cheshire Coach of the Year.
This follows a year which has seen him get two teams at the 12-and-under age level into the Aegon Premier National League, where they compete against other top players from across the country representing Stockton Heath and Craig’s own Performance Tennis Academy.
He said: “It has been an amazing year for me, having so many young players competing at such a level throughout the country.
“With the quality of the new additions I have made to the coaching team, I am confident we can do the same again, in other age groups also.”
Two of the country’s strongest players, Mathew James and Simon Morris, have joined the team.
In addition, Matthew Rickaby is back from a year working in America and Australia – at the Australian Open venue, Melbourne Park.
Craig himself and Anthony McCarthy have also continued to prove they can produce regional standard players in just one year of working with them.
“All in all, it’s a very exciting time for everyone involved at the Academy and the Stockton Heath club,” said Craig.
