Birchwood Community Hub has been selected as one of only 32 programmes across the UK to join the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) 10U Performance Network for 2026–2028.
The announcement follows a rigorous national review, consultation, application and interview process, with Birchwood’s programme recognised as one of the country’s leading environments for developing the next generation of talented young tennis players.
The LTA’s 10U Performance Network is a key part of the Regional Performance Stage within the LTA Player Pathway and has been designed to increase both the number and quality of young players who are inspired, informed and prepared to progress to the National Performance Stage.
As part of the network, Birchwood Community Hub will play an important role in strengthening high-quality training environments for young players and supporting the identification and development of future tennis talent.
The network brings together programmes that share a common purpose: providing inspirational coaching, outstanding development opportunities and clear progression routes to help young players reach their full potential.
The recognition is a significant achievement for the Birchwood team and reflects the dedication of coaches, players and families who have helped shape the programme’s success.
Cabinet member for Communities, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Jean Flaherty, said: “This is fantastic news for Birchwood Community Hub, LiveWire and Warrington Borough Council. Being selected as one of just 13 programmes nationwide is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the dedication, expertise and passion of everyone involved in the programme.
“The inclusion of Birchwood in the LTA’s 10U Performance Network highlights the quality of opportunities available to young people in Warrington and reinforces our commitment to supporting sport and physical activity at every level.
“Congratulations to the coaches, players and families whose hard work has contributed to this success, and we look forward to seeing the next generation of tennis talent develop right here in Warrington.”
Alex Day, Tennis Development Manager, added: “We are incredibly proud to have been selected to join the 2026–2028 LTA 10U Performance Network. This recognition reflects the hard work and commitment shown by our coaches, players and parents over many years. We’d like to thank everyone who has placed their trust in our programme and supported its growth.
“We are excited to play our part in developing the next generation of young tennis players and creating an environment where they can thrive both on and off the court.”
The new network will officially launch in September 2026.
