A Lymm-based dental practice offering NHS and private services was found to be safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The on-site inspection at Warrington Dental Care (trading as Smilebay Lymm) took place on 23 April 2025.
THE CQC found the practice had met regulations. Infection control procedures in place were effective. The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks.
Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our inspection, could access care, support and treatment when required.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Systems to review and investigate incidents and accidents were not consistently followed.
Warrington Dental Care (trading as Smilebay Lymm) based on Rushgreen Road, Lymm, provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available near the practice.
The practice had two treatment rooms. At the time of the inspection, there was a total of 14 staff, of which there were 6 dentists, 1 dental therapist, 2 qualified dental nurses, 3 trainee dental nurses, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. THE CQC inspectors gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during their inspection, including 2 dentists, 1 dental nurse, 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.
Prior to the visit, they asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service. Feedback was received from 5 patients. Their responses provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, “Very polite, friendly and explained everything in a manner easily understandable to the lay man”, “Really good service and very kind staff”, and “Service was really good. Environment was clean and safe and hygienic. Friendly and helpful. Reception staff are lovely too”.
Patients also commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.
Patients said they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.
Patients said that when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.
The practice shared patient feedback with the team. Inspectors were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
