IT’S Mental Health Awareness Week – and the theme this year is “community” and how it can provide a boost to mental health and wellbeing with a special film showcasing at Cineworld.
Being part of a community and having strong connections with other people can provide a sense of belonging, safety and support in hard times – and Warrington has plenty to offer.
There are groups or activities at the borough many community centres, activities like the Warrington Park Run and a number of welcoming and supportive mental health groups.
As part of the week, in collaboration with Warrington Voluntary Action, the borough council is hosting a “Digital Health Marketplace”’ this Thursday (May 15) at Cineworld Warrington.
The main focus of the marketplace is to show a special screening of the premiere film “Community in Mind”, which is a collaborative short film showcasing some of the amazing work that Warrington in Mind does across the town.
The film will include interviews from local people sharing their experiences of mental health challenges and the support they have accessed. The screening will take place from 10am until 11am.
Following the film, attendees can meet group leaders from some of the mental health support groups in Warrington to find out a bit more about the services and what support is available. There will also be representatives from gambling, drugs and alcohol treatment services, alongside lifestyles services and support and to access work the department of work and pensions at the marketplace.
