LOCAL Parish Councils from Winwick, Croft and Culcheth have joined forces to discuss local planning issues impacting village north of the M62.
Last Tuesday (March 25), representatives of Croft, Culcheth & Glazebury and Winwick Parish Councils met to discuss recent proposed plans for the Tritax Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) and Biogas facilities that will impact on the villages north of the M62.
The three Parish Councils agreed to co-ordinate responses to these proposals, and have enlisted the services of a planning consultant to provide an immediate response to the 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐱 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐁𝐨𝐱 consultation on behalf of all three Councils and their constituents.
This response details concerns around the use of Green Belt land, the scale of the proposed facility, its effect on the environment (including the close by SSSI), traffic, and air, noise and light pollution. They have asked for pro-active steps during the planning process to make sure that proper baselines are established and that any plans consider thoroughly on how to mitigate our concerns.
Members also agreed next steps with regards to the 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐬 proposals.
Several of the Winwick Parish Councillors will attend a visit at the Severn Trent North London facility in the coming weeks, and Parish Councillors from all three Parishes are actively talking to groups across the country for feedback around similar proposed and existing facilities.
They ahve also committed to holding a public meeting once plans are submitted to Warrington Borough Council, where they will discuss residents’ concerns on the proposal and provide information on how to provide feedback on the application.
They have also agreed to establish an online petition regarding the Biogas Plant in advance of the planning application to demonstrate the scale of public opinion on this matter.
Residents are asked to look out for information on this in the coming days but it will not be a substitute for individual objections to the plans once the process has started.
