A talented group of local youngsters are ready to take to the stage at St Thomas’ church hall in Stockton Heath for an unforgettable evening of entertainment in their forthcoming performances of “Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits”.
Under the enthusiastic direction of local teacher Jayne Mercer-Smith and Sunday School teacher Brenda Speed, the youth performers have been hard at work perfecting their lines and are excited to showcase their talents for the local community a St Thomas’ church hall in Stockton Heath.
The production features catchy numbers, a dancing camel and some of the corniest jokes you’ve ever heard…
“These young people have put their heart and soul into rehearsals for the last few months” says Jayne Mercer-Smith. “We can’t wait for everyone to join us for what promises to be a wonderful evening. Jayne follows in the footsteps of her mother Jean, who ran the group as far back as the 1960s, and continued to do so for decades, with Jayne first helping to direct when she was still in her teens. This legacy adds a special touch to the show: “It’s heart-warming to know that some of the current performers’ parents were once part of my mum’s productions all those years ago! There’s a real sense of community in what we do.”
This year’s show, which follows the antics of Ali Baba in a slapstick Arabian adventure, promises to be filled with laughter, joy and unforgettable memories for cast & audience alike. All that’s needed now is a full house, to provide these eager young performers the enthusiastic audience they deserve, to help them shine on stage. Ticket sales will help to support local charity St Rocco’s’ Hospice.
