A grieving mother has suffered further ongoing heartbreak following the theft of teddies and toys from her baby son’s grave at Warrington Cemetery off Manchester Road.
Items have been disappearing from the grave on a regular basis, starting just three days after burying her son in April 2023.
The mother, who has asked not to be identified said: “Three days after being buried my son’s dinosaur teddy was stolen. We replaced it straight away and the next day it was stolen as well.
“We visit the grave every other day without fail. After his headstone was erected a toy car was stolen. At Halloween two figures were taken that were sitting on the headstone.
“At Christmas, a toy car transporter and the cars with it were taken.
“Over the last month, things have started going missing every time we go to see him. On the first occasion his toys were scattered around the baby garden with the orange car gone, on the second occasion again his toys were scattered on different graves, on a third occasion most of his toys completely missing with a few scattered around and on the last visit 15/03/25 his bluey teddy bear, last remaining car, in the night garden train and iggle piggle figure had been taken as well as the chocolates from the Easter figures.”
The mother now sits in the car unable to attend the grave as the grief is too hard and causes her significant distress.
Warrington Borough Council cemetery staff have now put up notices urging people to respect graves and not to remove items that don’t belong to them.
