FORMER deputy leader of the council, Labour Cllr. Janet Henshaw has announced her intention to stand down as a Warrington Borough Councillor at the end of March.
In a letter to the Leader of the Council, Cllr. Hans Mundry, she says she has made the decision with a “heavy heart” but needs to prioritise her own health and well-being and that of her family.
Her decision will mean a by-election for the Great Sankey North and Whittle Hall Ward, which is likely to be on Thursday, May 1st.
In her resignation letter, she thanked the people of Great Sankey North and Whittle Hall for trusting her and said it had been a privilege to serve them and the town.
Whilst in the cabinet, she had been pleased to have reduced the council’s carbon footprint, improved local parks, made roads safer, supported community events including Great Sankey Environment Day at Whittle Hall ponds, and alongside a visionary local volunteer, initiate a repair café project to benefit many communities.

Shouldn’t be allowed to just step down when they’ve made such a mess of the finances. Same with that other narc that was leader
I thought he stepped aside, having overseen all those costly (to council taxpayers) “investments; so that he could take legal action against the person who he said was behind the charge of electoral misconduct he had to face when he was council leader? Haven’t seen any reports of that much publicised action in the local media, so far.
