Exemplar Health Care, one of the country’s leading nursing care providers for adults living with complex care needs, has marked the official opening of Woolston House care home, located on Long Barn Lane.

Cutting the ribbon was Service User Ambassador Philip Whittle, who expressed his gratitude to the home’s care team for their dedication to residents.
The new home is the result of an extensive refurbishment of the building, formerly Heathercroft Care Home, which started in January 2022. In November last year, the final two 14-bed communities were opened.
Woolston House care home is Exemplar Health Care’s 11th home in the North West and supports adults living with complex mental health needs, dementia, neuro-disabilities and physical disabilities. The opening of the home has created 140 new healthcare jobs in the local area.
The home has 40 large bedrooms, each with an ensuite wet room, split across four, small communities. With this small group living model, the home can provide a homely and supportive environment that’s fully responsive to people’s needs.
The home also features communal dining and living spaces, sensory bathrooms, an activities hub, therapy room, consultation room, multi-faith room, visitors’ suite and an accessible garden.
People living at Woolston House will be able to access the full range of clinical and holistic care they need. The new staff team prides itself on empowering residents to maximise their independence in a way that works for them based on their healthcare needs, whilst providing the support they need to live fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

For those looking to advance their careers or take up a new challenge, several roles are still being recruited, including Senior Care Assistants and Registered Nurses. Full details can be found on the Exemplar Health Care careers website: https://www.exemplarhc.com/careers.

“We know our service offering is in high demand for individuals and families in the Warrington area and our dedicated team is looking forward to working with local Commissioners, Social Workers, and families to make a positive difference to people that need long term nursing care and support.”
Des Loo, Home Manager at Woolston House care home, said: “I am deeply committed to creating an environment that fosters inclusivity and empowerment, and I am certain the home will have a profoundly positive impact as we help more people be supported in a homely setting that they can make their own.
“The whole team wants to create a warm and vibrant community where individuals can thrive, families can find support, and where compassionate care is at the forefront of everything we do. We’re still looking for some people to join Woolston House who reflect our values and want to be a part of making our residents’ lives better.”
