WITH temperatures of -4 and below forecast this evening, Warrington Borough Council gritters will be out on the primary routes from 7pm.
Since the cold snap started numerous local residents have posted on social media that they haven’t seen gritters in action.
The borough council posted their latest gritters update on social media stating: “We can’t treat all of the roads in the borough, so we prioritise roads and bus routes that form most of our primary gritting routes.
“We use a fleet of five gritting vehicles to grit the network in five pre-planned routes, which will typically take each vehicle three to four hours to complete.”
Primary routes are:
🚗 main roads
🚑 roads servicing hospitals, ambulance and fire stations
🏫 roads servicing high schools
🚌 bus routes with three or more buses per hour
❄️ Temps of -4 are forecast this evening, so our gritters will be out on the primary routes from 7pm
We prioritise main roads and bus routes as our primary routes.
