VILLAGERS are being urged to be extra vigilant following an increase in crime in the Grappenhall and Thelwall areas of Warrington.

A police report to the local parish council highlighted concern over an increase in crimes, including burglaries and theft of parcels from doorsteps.

On December 15 there was also suspicious activity of Weaste Lane with a report of two males checking door handles. The males were identified and arrested.

Between November 20 to December 18 four burglaries were reported.
These involved a house on Knutsford Road being broken into via a back door. A vehicle was taken but later found via a tracker.
A similar incident occurred on Chester Road where a house was broken into via a back door. Two vehicles were taken and the house ransacked.
On Middlehurst Road a house/car key was stolen. The owner believes she left the set in the front door.
A Motorbike was also stolen from a garage on Woodlands Drive.
Meanwhile, there was an incident of criminal damage on Stockton Lane where four canal boats had their plastic sheeting slashed.
There were also five incidents of theft reported including packages stolen from outside properties on Knutsford Road, Cliff Lane, Lindi Avenue, Richmond Avenue and Alderley Lane.
