Power cut from flooded properties evacuated at Bewsey

UPDATED: Power is being cut from properties in the Southworth Avenue area of Bewsey, Warrington, after homes were evacuated due to flooding.

AS of 20:30 to date firefighters have evacuated 61 people from 87 affected properties in the vicinity of Southworth Avenue through the course of the afternoon and evening.

At 18:44 firefighters also rescued two residents from a flooded property in Longshaw Street, Warrington.
Meanwhile, door knockers have been out from Warrington Borough Council advising a number of properties in and around Southworth Ave that power will be temporarily cut, as Scottish Power are carrying out emergency investigative works following flooding in Bewsey/Dallam.
They will also be providing advice and support to properties affected.
Earlier today five fire crews helped evacuate people from the flooded properties.

At 12:29 five fire engines; from Warrington, Lymm, Stockton Heath, Penketh and Chester and a rescue boat attended reports of flooding at Southworth Avenue.
Emergency services attended at Southworth Avenue, Warrington, where several properties have been affected by flood water.
Firefighters worked with other emergency responders to evacuate residents where necessary.

Ongoing road closures likely to be in place overnight are;
Longshaw Street, Dallam
Cromwell Avenue, Callands
Liverpool Road, Sankey Bridges
Warrington Lane, Lymm
Burford Lane, Lymm
Smithy Brow, Croft
Clay Lane, Burtonwood
Mill Lane, Winwick Quay
Hawleys Lane, Dallam
Lilford Avenue, Dallam

Meanwhile, arious road closures are in place across Warrington following flooding caused by heavy rain.

In another incident at 08:13 one fire engine and a technical rescue unit from Lymm used a raft to carry residents to safety from a house which was affected by flooding in Broad Lane, Warrington.
Boathouse Cottages, Lymm, which were flooded in 2021, were also flooded again when flood defences failed.

  1. This situation is ridiculous why has it happened again ?
    1 surely we were give enough time notice to organize some flood defences
    2 when was the last time the drains in the streets emptied ?
    3:where were WBC until the event happened
