Council asks residents for views on future housing support

Warrington Borough Council is asking residents and local organisations to have their say on plans for the future of housing assistance in the borough.

A consultation on the council’s Housing Renewals Assistance Policy is underway and will run until 4 December 2026.
The policy sets out the range of support available to eligible residents to help them remain safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes.
This includes Disabled Facilities Grants, which can help towards the cost of essential adaptations where an assessed need has been identified.
The council says the consultation is part of its commitment to supporting independent living and improving outcomes for residents and their families.
It is seeking views on the support currently available, as well as suggestions for additional forms of assistance that could be considered in the future.
Residents, community groups, disability organisations, partner agencies and other stakeholders are being encouraged to take part and share their experiences.

Councillor John Kerr-Brown, Cabinet Member for Housing Services and Licensing, said: “We want to ensure that our Housing Renewals Assistance Policy continues to meet the needs of residents both now and in the future.
“The support available through the policy, including Disabled Facilities Grants, can make a significant difference in helping people live safely, independently and comfortably in their own homes.
“We are keen to hear from residents, carers, community groups, disability organisations and our wider partners about their experiences and views.
“The feedback we receive will help us shape future housing assistance services and ensure they reflect the changing needs of our communities.
“We would encourage anyone with an interest in housing support and independent living to take part in the consultation and share their views.”
