Volunteers brave the elements to clean-up Hood Manor

LOCAL councillors, led by Cllr Mo Hussain, teamed up with the dedicated Sunday and Tuesday litter-picking group to tackle the persistent litter problem in Hood Manor.

Despite challenging weather, the group of volunteers collected over 20 bags of rubbish, including a full bag of aluminium cans, and even found more hazardous items, such as a kitchen knife.

The team also cleared large discarded items, which have been reported to Your Housing for removal. Thanks to the efforts of the nine volunteers who came out, the area is looking much cleaner.
Cllr Mo Hussain praised the community effort, saying, “It was absolutely fantastic to see so many volunteers braving the rain to help clean up the neighbourhood. Their hard work sends a clear message that residents will not tolerate littering or mess.”
This initiative highlights the pride many locals have in keeping their community clean and inviting. Residents who would like to get involved in future litter picks are encouraged to join, with full equipment, including litter pickers and bags, provided. It’s a great opportunity to improve the local environment and make a real difference in the area.

Dr Tony Dixon, Keep Britain Tidy Litterheroes Ambassador. Chair of Warrington Tuesday Team said: “Thanks again to Mo, this community litter pick has made a big difference in Hood Manor.
“There is still more to do, and we need more community minded people to volunteer.
“We organise regular litter picks in many areas of Warrington every Saturday, every Tuesday and also many Sundays.
“This is a mindful and healthy way to get outdoors and improve the local environment.
“It gives great fulfilment and shows we have pride in our town in a very practical and visible way.”
