Warrington charity Walton Lea Partnership, is one of the first in the country to officially appoint its learners to lead a community consultation exercise.
The charity is hoping to embark on a big project to expand facilities at its current site, but first wanted to consult all stakeholders.
The nine-strong Learner Media Team accepted the challenge. First step was to create the ‘Space of our Own’ theme and logo with support from volunteer Bernard Ernshaw.
Following a talk by the Butterfly Conservation Society, the team adopted a butterfly as the official emblem “because small changes make big things happen”
All the departments at Walton Lea then supported the hard working learners to makeover an Information Cabin. This is home to all the ideas and feedback following staff and learner forums.
Next step is the Space of our Own Roadshow which will be lead by learners who are hoping to visit local authority groups, stakeholders, businesses and more across our community.
Chair of Walton Lea Mike Cozens said “this is a significant moment in the 26 year history of Walton Lea. It is magnificent that our learners are leading the consultation and so far we’ve had some inspiring and thought provoking feedback.”
