Primary school’s SEND work gets special praise

Bruche Primary’s high quality work to support pupils with special needs and disabilities (SEND) has been recognised with a special award.

The Padgate school – part of Warrington Primary Academy Trust – has received the SEND Inclusion Award (SENDIA), an accreditation for mainstream schools which recognises high quality education and care for SEND pupils.
To achieve the SENDIA accreditation schools go through a process of self-evaluation, action planning and evidence collection, to ensure that their provision meets the award’s key requirements.
Successful completion of SENDIA helps schools to demonstrate to parents, governors and Ofsted inspectors that the school’s SEND provision meets current legislation and the SEND Code of Practice, and is effective in achieving good outcomes for all pupils.

Assistant headteacher and SENDCo (special educational needs and disabilities co-ordinator) Hannah Kerrigan said applying for the award was a helpful process. “It’s so much more than simply receiving a certificate – it’s given us the chance for us all to reflect on the work we do here at Bruche to support our SEND pupils so that we can ensure that we continue to provide the very best education, support and care we can.”
Bruche Primary is one of eight primary schools that make up Warrington Primary Academy Trust (WPAT), a community of more than 2,300 children aged 2 to 11. WPAT was formed in 2016 and quickly developed a national reputation for excellent standards. WPAT provides staff at all its schools with support, expertise and professional development so that they can provide the very best education standards for their children.
