Plan for detached house in the garden thrown out

A PLAN to build a two-bedroom detached house in the garden of an existing house at Latchford has been thrown out by Warrington planning chiefs.

Members of the borough council’s development management committee rejected the proposals in Nook Lane.
They agreed with officers’ views that there would be insufficient privacy space between the proposed new house, the existing house and the adjacent Three Bridges Care Home.

In addition there would be insufficient amenity space for the new dwelling and the property would appear as a cramped addition to the street scene, detrimental to the appearance of the area.
The committee was told a plan for a one-bedroom bungalow on the site was turned down last year.
A total of 22 neighbours were consulted about the proposal and one objection was lodged.
Officers said the proposals had addressed the main objections to the previous bungalow scheme.
But the proposed dwelling would looked cramped and “squeezed in” the plot, which would not be in keeping with the locality, in particular the semi-detached properties on the eastern side of Nook Lane.
