Steel silo plan to boost waste plastic recycling

PLANS for a 12.3 metre steel silo to be used in connection with the processing of waste plastic have been submitted to Warrington Borough Council

The proposals have been drawn up by YS Reclamation Ltd, who already recycle some 700 tonnes of waste Polyethylene film on their Kingsland Grange site at Woolston.
This diverts the material from landfill and prevents it from polluting the environment.
The firm plans to increase its capacity over the next five years.

A report to Warrington Borough Council planning chiefs states that, due to changes in the plastic export market, more than £6 million has been invested in state of the art processing machinery to allow the reprocessing of the waste Polyethylene film into pellet form.
The waste material is largely the plastic film used to wrap domestic and commercial products while in transit.
This provides a sustainable supply of recycled material for customer manufacturing processes.
The proposed development will support the continued economic success of the company.
A number of silos already exist on the Kingsland Grange site and, while the proposed new silo is a significant structure it will be largely obscured from public view because it is next to an existing building.
The proposals are currently being considered by borough planning officers.
