TILIA Homes marked World Homelessness Day yesterday, by unveiling a series of community initiatives to support its charity partner, Emmaus.

As well as donating more than 150 items from its three show homes at Simpson Park, in Haworth, which has already raised more than £1,800, the Tilia Homes team has announced the launch of its ‘drop in and drop off’ campaign, encouraging residents and community close to selected developments across the region to help stock Emmaus’ charity shops with much-needed, pre-loved items ahead of the busiest shopping season and cold winter months.
The Tilia Homes Northern team has already donated beds, sofas, dining room table and chairs, to the Emmaus Charity Superstore, in Sheffield, from its Simpson Park development, in Harworth, to kick off the campaign.
For the next month, anyone can drop into the marketing suites at Alston Grange, in Longridge, and The Pastures, Farington, to drop off pre-loved items, such as electricals, clothing and furniture, which will then be collected by Emmaus, which helps to raise funds for much needed food, blankets and toiletries.
The initiatives follow the recent announcement that Tilia Homes has named Emmaus its charity partner for the year and has set itself the ambitious nationwide target of raising £80,000 across its four regional offices, as well as a corporate fund-matching within the first year.

As part of its partnership, Tilia Homes is also hosting ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions for its 400 employees from 10 October to immerse itself in the work Emmaus does and why its fundraising efforts are so important to the organisation.
Charlotte Talbott, Chief Executive at Emmaus UK comments: “Donations of items to Emmaus shops across the country directly benefit the formerly homeless people we support.
“We’re very grateful to our partners, like Tilia Homes, who go the extra mile and commit to an ongoing relationship with our charity. By helping us to raise awareness in the areas it builds, Tilia Homes supports our mission to assist people on their journey out of homelessness.
“With winter approaching, which of course, is the most challenging of weather seasons to be without food, warmth, and shelter, Emmaus communities and our partners are working together as hard as we can to help as many people locally and across the country as possible.”

First launched in the UK in 1991, Emmaus supports more than 850 people across 30 different communities nationwide, who have experienced homelessness. It provides them with support, a home for as long as they need it and meaningful work and training in its social enterprises. With ambitious plans to provide a home to 1,100 people by 2025, Emmaus relies on the generosity of the local community.
Emily Horn, Sales and Marketing Director for Tilia Northern, adds: “It’s our pleasure to contribute this furniture to Emmaus and hope that it will help to raise much-needed funds for the charity. We’re looking forward to getting the communities in which we build involved in this organisation, which really does make a difference to the lives of so many. Please do consider bringing your pre-loved items to one of our marketing suites and speak with our teams.”
