Two week road closure for busy town centre road

A busy Warrington town centre road is set to close for up to two weeks later this month to allow highway improvements including resurfacing works.

The closure order on Midland Way will be from 7pm to midnight to reduce traffic disruption.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows:

Prohibition of Driving (between 7pm to Midnight, Monday to Sunday): Midland Way (both directions) from its junction with Legh Street to its junction with Crosfield Street.
Footway Closure (24 hours, Monday to Sunday): Midland Way (north side) from its junction with Legh Street to its junction with Crosfield Street.

The Order will be effective from 9th May 2022 for 2 weeks, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.

The alternative routes are: Midland Way (Prohibition of Driving) via Cockhedge Roundabout, Brick Street, Fennel Street, Mersey Street, Bridgefoot, A5061 Wilson Patten Street, Parker Street, Liverpool Road, Sankey Green Roundabout, A57 Priestley Street, Froghall Lane and vice versa; Midland Way (Footway Closure) Midland Way south side footway.

The restrictions are required to facilitate highway improvement works including resurfacing the carriageway.
