Derelict swimming pool to make way for detached house on Green Belt site?

A PLAN to demolish a derelict swimming pool building and replace it with a four-bedroom detached house has been submitted to Warrington Borough Council.

The development is proposed for Green Belt land adjoining existing properties in Stretton Road, Stretton – “Wardleys” and “The Cottage.”

The new house would be taller than the existing swimming pool, but would not disrupt views across the land as it would be set against the backdrop of the existing dwellings, according to the applicant.

“It would have no detrimental impact upon the ability of people to enjoy the amenity of the Green Belt setting.”

The new house would be in a cluster of residential properties and would enhance the immediate setting, reusing an otherwise redundant site.

An existing access drive serving The Cottage would also serve the new property and there would be parking for at least three vehicles.

The proposed dwelling would be designed to be in keeping with the scale and massing of existing properties along this stretch of Stretton Road.
