DELAYED highway improvement works are set to start in the Great Sankey area later this month, resulting in the temporary closure of a public footpath and local road closures for up to 14 weeks.
Warrington Borough Council has given notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows: –
Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: Belmont Crescent from the gable end of No. 19 Belmont Crescent to the gable end of No. 11 Belmont Crescent; Footpath Closure: PROW No. 8 from its boundary/junction with Belmont Crescent (adjacent to no. 32 Belmont Crescent) for a distance of approximately 60 metres in an easterly direction.
The Order will be effective from 21st February 2022 for 14 weeks as follows: Belmont Crescent between 9:30am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday; PROW No. 8 24 hours for the duration. The restrictions will be in place when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works and residential access will be maintained for the duration.
The alternative route for PROW No. 8 will be signed on site and be via the unnamed footpath through the Whittle Brook Linear Park where it joins onto Whitehall Lane, then via Station Road and vice versa.
The restrictions are required for highway improvement works, including kerbing, footway resurfacing, installation of new bridge and fencing. The work had originally been scheduled for the end of January.
