TWO public engagement sessions to discuss the ongoing intermediate care service consultation are being hosted by Warrington Borough Council and NHS Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
The sessions, set to be held via Microsoft Teams, will be an opportunity for residents and communities to discuss the borough’s current intermediate care provision and raise their ideas and suggestions for how improvements to the service can be made into the future.
The two consultation events are set to be held on:
·Wednesday 3 February, 1pm-2.30pm
·Wednesday 10 February, 6pm-7.30pm

What is intermediate care, and why does it matter to me?
Intermediate care is an umbrella term for a type of care provided to people to help them remain as independent as possible. Anyone could need intermediate care and it is a vital service that offers intensive support to quickly get back to the safety and comfort of their own home.
This includes helping people to:
·Recover after a fall, accident, acute illness or operation
·Avoid going into hospital unnecessarily
·Return home more quickly after a hospital stay
·Remain at home when things start to get challenging or difficult
The council and CCG are therefore asking for people’s views on proposed new models for intermediate care, including the future of Padgate House as a facility to provide intermediate care from.
Cllr Rebecca Knowles, cabinet member for statutory health and adult social care, said: “Intermediate care services are vital in supporting people to remain at home safely. A focus on rehabilitation and recovery for people, particularly when they have had a stay in hospital or are in a crisis at home, helps them to live as independently as possible with the right care and support for daily living.
“We want to hear from as many people as possible throughout this consultation, including from those who have received intermediate care before, those who have had family members or loved ones receiving the service, as well as anyone who wants to share their views on how we can provide the best possible model of intermediate care into the future. We look forward to discussing the consultation and future service options with you in these engagement sessions.”
