UPDATED:RESIDENTS were advised to keep their windows and doors closed as firefighters tackled a large fire involving 50 bales of hay in a farmer’s field at Lymm for around 10 hours on Sunday.

Shortly after 8am firefighters from Lymm, Birchwood and Altrincham were dispatched to reports of a large fire in the open in Lymm.
On arrival the crews discovered a large fire in a field involving approximately 50 bales of hay.
Firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
Residents in the nearby area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to the amount of smoke from the fire.
The fire was on Higher Lane near to Broomedge.
Firefighters worked throughout the day, reading the affected hay and extinguishing the fire using two hose reel jets.
The crew also monitored the temperature of the hay using a thermal imaging camera.
Firefighters were detained at the incident for around 10 hours.

On Friday, firefighters tackled a large barn blaze involving bales of hay at a farm on Higher Lane.
