Rylands impress at Northwich

Rylands FC kept up the pressure on the leading teams in the NWCFL Premier Division table with an impressive 2-0 win away at Northwich Victoria on Saturday.

In a game of many goal scoring opportunities at both ends of the pitch Rylands opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Freddie Potter received the ball on the left of the box, chipped it to Kane Drummond who stabbed it forward for Elliot Morris. Yhe recent signing from Winstanley Warriors took a touch before slotting the ball in the corner of the net.

Vics were reduced to ten men for ten minutes as their goalkeeper was sin binned in the aftermath of the penalty decision. The home side forced the ball into Rylands net in the 78th minute but their score was ruled out for a foul on goalkeeper Mike Emery.

After the Northwich game manager Dave McNabb commented “Brilliant win today against a good Vics side on a difficult pitch. We didn’t play the football we’re capable of and missed three good chances but it was a really good team performance Great to get back to back wins and we take that into Tuesday now.”

Fifth in the Premier Division table Rylands host 7th placed Irlam at Gorsey Lane on Tuesday evening, kick off 7.45pm, before welcoming mid table Squires Gate to Warrington next Saturday, kick off 3pm.
