WITH two games called off it was another week without any action on the pitch for Rylands FC.
Their scheduled NWCFL Premier Division fixtures away at Skelmersdale United (Tuesday) and Irlam (Saturday) fell foul of the wet weather swept across the region this week, both games being postponed due to water logged pitches.
There has however been some activity off the pitch with the opening of the revamped club house and several managerial appointments.
James Walsh has been appointed manager of Rylands reserve team, which plays in the Cheshire Football League. James will be assisted by Danielle Rutter, while James Keane and Terry Smith have been named joint managers of the club’s under 21 team which compete in the North West Development League.
With the two teams working together Rylands hope to be able to develop a player path way for home grown players to progress into the first team.
One player who will not be featuring In the first team is Carl Lownsborough who has left to join Ashton Town, having played ten games this season he was a member of last season’s championship winning squad.
Rylands have two away games scheduled for the coming week with league visits to Padiham (Tuesday) and Avro (Saturday) planned, weather permitting.
