School celebrates remarkable success story

A WARRINGTON primary school is celebrating its remarkable journey of success following the publication of the primary school performance tables.
Bruche Primary School – part of Warrington Primary Academy Trust (WPAT) – was among the top performing schools in the area, with every one of its Year 6 pupils meeting their age-related expectations in the tests in reading, writing and maths. The national average for this measure across all three subjects is 64 per cent.
The tables are based on how Year 6 pupils performed during the summer’s national curriculum tests – or SATs.
The 100 per cent performance is all the more remarkable because Bruche was, in 2014, in the bottom five per cent of primary schools in England in terms of performance. The school is now in the highest tier of schools in the country for performance nationally and in the Warrington local authority area.
Bruche pupils also surpassed national and local authority averages in the percentage of pupils achieving at a higher standard in reading, writing and maths – 47 per cent of Year 6 pupils met this target, compared to 13 per cent locally and 11 per cent for England. Progress scores in reading, writing and maths were also impressive.
Executive headteacher Chris Jones said: “These figures are a real testament to the dedication of all of our children, staff, parents and governors. I’m especially delighted with this year’s results; they demonstrate that the hard work the children, staff, parents and governors have been putting in along their journeys at Bruche have really paid off.
“Every day our children and teachers go the extra mile, and to be improving year on year is a huge achievement for everyone. Coupled with our very positive Ofsted report last July and our high aspirations which are shared by our staff and governors, our children have really lived up to the school motto: ‘Success, nothing less’ this year.”
