HOMES England, the Government housing agency, has appointed Barratt Homes Manchester and David Wilson Homes North West to develop 370 homes on land at Appleton Cross, 30% classed as affordable.
Work is expected to start this autumn and will deliver a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom properties at the south Warrington site.
Either shared ownership or affordable rental deals will be available at 111 homes.
Homes to be be built out on land disposed of by Homes England in south Warrington in the last year now add up to 700 dwellings.
Duncan Inglis, head of accelerated delivery for Homes England in the North West said: “South Warrington is an area of growing housing need for people in the North West. That’s why Homes England are making it a priority area.
“The new homes being developed by our partners Barratt and David Wilson at Appleton Cross will help to meet the demand amongst local people for good quality housing, and is in addition to the 350 homes being delivered at Grappenhall Heys and Pewterspear.”

Barratt was selected in 2018 as HE’s partner for a 180-home scheme at Pewterspear Green Road, one of seven projects forming a national pilot for the Government’s Accelerated Construction model.
Along with Grappenhall Heys, planning was applied for at Appleton Cross by Homes England in October 2017, with both schemes attracting opposition from local councillors and residents.
