Stay safe this Christmas

Young people are being advised to take steps to make sure they are safe while out celebrating during the festive season in Warrington.

Warrington Borough Council is encouraging teenagers and young people to stay safe and enjoy their night out.

The council’s top tips are:

Hanging around? Be safe and sound

–          Make sure your phone is charged

–          Take a coat

–          Stick with friends you know

House party tonight?  Don’t give your parents a fright

–          Don’t let alcohol ruin a good night

–          Don’t be pressured into drinking

–          Make sure you know how you are getting home

Know your limit and stay within it, stay safe

–          Don’t mix your drinks

–          Enjoy alcohol responsibly

Heading into town? Don’t let you mates down, stay safe

–          Stick together as a group

–          If a friend has had too much to drink, take them home

–          Don’t wander off alone

Aim to have a good night, stay safe

–          Enjoy the company of your friends

–          Walk away from trouble

–          Remember the festive spirit

Cllr Pat Wright, executive board member for statutory health and adult social care, said: “Christmas is a time of celebration but we want to encourage young people to think about personal safety while they’re out and about having fun. Staying safe means not being pressured into drinking, staying with friends you know and trust, making sure your phone is charged before going out and having a plan for getting home.
