Crackdown on youth anti-social behaviour

POLICE have launched a crackdown against anti-social behaviour in the Chapelford Village area of Warrington.
A dispersal order came into force yesterday and will remain in place until 4pm on Sunday – giving police the power to order individuals and groups to leave the area and  not return.
Two youths were issued with dispersal notices last night as a result of their behaviour on the Sainsbury’s car park. They were among a number of youths riding cycles in and around moving cars on the car park.
Their cycles were seized and the youths were taken home to their parents.
A police spokesman said: “This behaviour causes alarm to drivers and is extremely dangerous.”
The dispersal order was put in force following numerous complaints from local people about the behaviour of individuals and groups in the area.
Anyone issued with a dispersal notice must leave the area immediately or face further action.
The order gives a constable in uniform the power to direct any person who is in a public place in the locality not to return for the period specified.
It issued for the purpose of removing or reducing the likelihood of members of the public being harassed, alarmed or distressed by crime or disorder, and more particularly youth anti-social behaviour.
