“Something different in fantasy fiction”

WARRINGTON author John Timmis has long wanted to create something different in fantasy fiction.
Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien and Michael Moorcock, he has worked on a fantasy novel since his early twenties.
Now the former teacher, who has a degree in Ecology and Behaviour and has re-trained as an arborist has finally produced “Deathling of Dorn” – a story which contrasts themes of human lust, tenderness and loyalty with graphic violence and betrayal in a fast-paced and haunting plot.
All of which is very different from his real life of growing organic fruit and vegetables, fell-walking and camping!
The story follows the “Dorn” and the people of the Southlands who have known peace for millennia protected by Wizard Virdil.  But when the Wizard is slain by an evil sorcerer, the Southlands easily fall prey to ravening, barbaric killers, greedy for the spoils of conquest.
Will life ever return to normal? Only time will tell as the common folk of the Southlands endeavour to meet the menace that threatens the future of mankind.
“Deathling of Dorn” is published by Troubador Publishing at £8.99
