COUNCILLOR Wendy Johnson has been confirmed as the 140th Mayor of Warrington, alongside Deputy Mayor Cllr Mo Hussain.

Cllr Johnson will formally begin her Mayoral year from 1 July 2024, until the end of the 2024/25 municipal year.
This will be her second term as Mayor of Warrington, having been Mayor previously in 2019 -20, during the height of the COVID pandemic.
Wendy was born in Sankey, moved to Thelwall aged one and has lived in the area ever since. Councillor Johnson started her career as a groom and has always loved to ride horses. Her career since has been rich and varied – she has previously worked as a dental assistant, a care home manager and now a health and social care trainer, focusing on qualifications in health and social care.
Cllr Johnson represents Lymm North and Thelwall and has served on a range of committees and working groups and has particularly enjoyed her time as the Chairperson of the Health and Wellbeing Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Wendy also represented Warrington in its first Joint Scrutiny Committee with members of neighbouring councils.

Cllr Johnson said: “I have been a councillor since 1999, and to hold the role of Mayor of Warrington for the second time, is an honour and privilege.
“My first time as Mayor fell under the COVID pandemic. I wasn’t able to go out into the community and meet people much, if at all, so I’m particularly excited to meet as many Warrington residents as possible in my forthcoming Mayoral term.
“I am also particularly looking forward to supporting the charities under the Mayor’s Appeal.”
The Mayor will also be working with a number of charities that she will support through the Mayor’s Appeal throughout the year, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
