Best-selling author, photographer and TV presenter Levison Wood will be sharing stories about his sometimes terrifying and challenging adventures when his tour calls into Parr Hall.

An Evening with Levison Wood will give a rare insight into his exploits as a modern day explorer which will no doubt fascinate the Warrington audience.

With his keen desire to immerse himself fully in local cultures and customs, Wood has delighted audiences around the globe with stories of his epic adventures, ranging from being chased by crocodiles and hippos in Africa, shot at by gunmen, falling off a mountain, being arrested more times than he can remember and meeting such illustrious characters as the Dalai Lama and George Clooney along the way.

His most recent travel includes walking 1,700 miles along the length of Central America, taking in eight countries from Mexico to Colombia and his bid to cross the treacherous Darien Gap.

In this adventure-filled one-man show, Wood recounts his amusing and sometimes poignant tales of life as a soldier in the Parachute Regiment and his subsequent transition into an explorer of international standing.

“Without wanting to spoil the surprise, I plan to talk about my latest expedition ‘Walking the Americas’ as well as what inspired me along the way, and how I went from being in the parachute regiment to forging a career as an explorer,” said Wood.

“I’ll talk about the challenges and pitfalls – the dangers and the rewards of a career as a professional traveller. I’ll also share some stories from ‘behind the scenes’ that don’t make it into the TV series.”

With his honest accounts of life on the road, Wood hopes to challenge preconceptions and inspire a new generation of adventurers with tales of hope and hospitality, firmly believing the more people go out and see the world, the better a place it will be.

His shows have received rave reviews across the UK and internationally, and the forthcoming documentary series Walking The Americas will air on Channel 4 in early spring 2017, while his book of the same name will be published by Hodder & Stoughton in February.

The event takes place on Thursday, 16th March, 2017 (7.30pm). For tickets and information please click here or call 01925 442345.
