Former Netto staff welcome to apply for jobs at Sainsbury’s

FORMER Netto staff who lost their jobs when the Lymm store closed are more than welcome to apply for jobs at the new Sainsbury’s supermarket which is set to open in the village.

Sainsbury’s say 60 jobs will be created when they takeover the former Netto premises on Rushgreen Road, with the new supermarket set to open in November.

A spokesperson said: “We always try to employ from the local community wherever possible, and those who formerly worked at Netto are welcome to apply for jobs at the new Sainsbury’s.

“Recruitment will start shorty, and all vacancies will be published online.”

While Sainsbury’s say their existing store in the village centre will remain open, news of a second branch within a mile of each other has received a mixed response in the village.

Local councillor Ian Marks added: “The village grapevine said that Sainsbury’s might move there and this has proved right. It’s good news that the purpose built building will not be empty for long. Of course there is now speculation about what might happen to the shop in the village centre?

“The Netto site has the benefit of a free car-park and it is interesting that this move has come about at the same time as the Borough Council is proposing to do away with free parking on the village centre car-parks.”

Meanwhile those interested in applying for job should visit https://sainsburys.jobs/ where the new positions will be advertised shortly.
