WARRINGTON looks set to keep both of its Parliamentary seats after the 2020 elections, after the Boundary Commission for England published its initial proposals today.
The only change to the current map would see the Latchford East ward (which covers the Westy estate) being transferred from Warrington South to Warrington North.
In 2011, the Commission published proposals which would have seen Warrington split between three constituencies and merged with parts of Halton.
A consultation on the initial proposals has now begun and residents have until 5 December to view and comment via bce2018.org.uk
Welcoming the proposals, Warrington South Tory MP David Mowat said: “I’m pleased that the Commission has put forward proposals which preserve the integrity of the town instead of attempting to merge it with various other parts of the region.
“I will still be the Member of Parliament for Latchford East until the next General Election and I will continue to serve the residents there to the best of my ability.”
Labour’s Helen Jones is the current MP for Warrington North.
