Have your say on Walton Gardens

2

RESIDENTS of Warrington are being given a chance to have their say on the future of one of the town’s crown jewels – Walton Hall and Gardens.
The borough council has bold plans for the Walton estate and is inviting everyone to have their say about the proposals and support a bid for vital funds from the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore historic conservatories.
A new on-line survey gives people the chance to share their views about what activities they would like to see at the estate in the future and how they use the park now.
Should the gardens be restored to their former glory?
Do people want to see nature or geo-caching trails?
Should guided tours be available?
Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw, with the chance to win £50 in high street shopping vouchers.
It all forms part of a bid by the team at Walton Estate and partners from land-based education provider Myerscough College and local charity The Walton Lea Partnership for funding from the Heritage Lottery fund, to restore the conservatories, promote the heritage of estate and enable the site to be used to deliver education, learning and volunteering opportunities.
Cllr Tony Higgins, the borough council’s lead member for culture, leisure and community, said: “We have exciting plans for the future of Walton Hall Estate – but we need your help.
“This survey aims to help us find out what’s important to you in the park’s development.  We need your input so we can make this project work for the community, further enhancing the quality of what’s on offer to visitors and providing new, exciting experiences that people will love.
“The survey will also help inform an important bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund. So make sure you get involved, help us shape Walton Hall Park’s future – and be in with a chance of winning a fantastic prize at the same time.”
Residents can play their part in the plans by completing a short survey at www.warrington.gov.uk/waltongardens.
The survey will close on September 18.
