Village festival celebrates another success

ORGANISERS of the Stockton Heath Festival are celebrating yet another huge success which, over the three days of the events drew thousands of people.
Although full details are not yet available, they have been able to release the winners of most of the competitions which added a competitive edge to the annual  festival.
The popular scarecrow competition – which had an Alice in Wonderland theme this year – was judged by the public who decided the winner was Maddocks Funeral Directors.
Runners up was the Red Lion Hotel and third, Smart’s Carpets,
The competition was sponsored by Grangeside Joinery.
First prize, of a £100 cheque, in the art exhibition at St Thomas’s Church, was won by  Steven Rigby for his picture “View from James Street in Liverpool”
In second place winning a £50 cheque was Annette Scholefield for her picture”Angus.
These awards were presented by festival chairman Ian Simpson.
The winner of the Stockton Heath Festival President’s award (for the largest number of votes from the public who visited the exhibition) went to Roy Holmes for his picture “Dreams”.  He received a mounted fused glass original piece of art, made by local artist Ally Noble and presented by festival president Tudor Pole.
The exhibition was organised by Helen Dutton, on behalf of the Festival and the Warrington Art Group and the sponsor was the Rotary Club of Warrington.
Winners in the photographic competition, sponsored by Victoria Garage, were:
Under 18 category- “The Village where I live”
1,  Max Morrow- Cantilever Chase; 2, Ned Jones – Stanney Lunt Bridge;  3,  Ned Jones – Bridgewater Canal Grappenhall.
18 and over category: 1,  Andy Gilbert – Rocking in the Parr Hall; 2, Peter Howard – Croatia Nights; 3,  Kerry Anne Brown – Night Shift.
Grand Festival Draw, sponsored by Urban Building Projects Ltd.
1,  Jayne Moffat – £250 voucher – Picollinos;  2,  Emma King – 1 night lodge stay for four people – The Hollies Farm shop;  3,  Colligan – £100 voucher – Corks Out.
There were also 27 other prizes donation by local traders and businesses.
Spy competition (all nine correct entries and after a draw, overall winner: Jamie Pugh.
