Farm stables plan given the go-ahead

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a block of six stables and a horse exercise arena at a farm at Rixton.
But they have put off a decision on another proposal for a mobile home at Moss Farm, Moss Lane, pending talks with the applicant.
Officers had recommended this applications be refused.
Members of the borough’s development management committee were told the new stables would be in an L-shaped block, close to a series of existing stables and agricultural buildings.
Horses had been stabled on the land for more than eight years on a DIY livery basis – the owners looking after their own horses. The proposed new stables would offer a full livery service and 20 horses would be kept on the site.
Rixton Parish Council lodged an objection on the grounds there was no justification for the development in the Green Belt.
The meeting was told the mobile home was required to provide temporary accommodation for a groom who9 would provide security and 24-hour supervision for the horses.
Officers recommended the mobile home be refused on the grounds there was no need for a groom on the site and the dwelling would be inappropriate in the Green Belt.  But members of the committee decided to defer a decision until further information was available.
