WARRINGTON’S new Youth Café and Youth Bus will be officially launched on Saturday, June 4.
The state-of-the-art facility will be at New Town House, Buttermarket Street – and will replace the old building that was demolished at Christmas, 2014 to make way for the re-development of Bridge Street.
It will offer young people the opportunity to meet in a high street-quality contemporary coffee shop.
As well as being a place to pop into for coffee or to meet up with
friends, support for young people from youth workers and a range of professionals including Careers For Young People, Score Creative, sexual health, school nursing is also available.
The Bus is a top-of-the-range mobile youth space full of high tech activities which offers a warm, safe space that all young people can access in their local area.
The launch event will take place at the Warrington Youth Café and will run from noon to 4pm, with the official opening taking place at 2pm. The Youth Bus will be parked in the town centre, near the café, on the day. The launch event will be supported by local youth performers, artists and partner agencies.
During the week running up to the launch, a programme of activities will be on offer at the café, starting with a Youth Stage as part of the Warrington Music Festival, on Saturday May 28, from 12 noon-7pm.
The youth café will be open every day from Tuesday May 31 to Friday,  June 3, from 3pm-6pm and will offer the following activities:
*Tuesday  May 31 – Employability
*Wednesday June 1 – Upcycling
*Thursday June 2 – Holistic Therapies
*Friday June 3 – Music session.
The Youth Bus will be in the town centre during the week, and will be offering a range of fun sporting activities.
Cllr Jean Carter, the borough council’s lead member for Children and Young People’s Services, who will officially open the Youth Café, said: “I am pleased that the youth café has found its new home, here in New Town House.
“The young people of the borough have been crying out for a high quality space that they can call their own. I am excited to see the café grow and develop into a safe arena where young people can speak to a youth worker and partners around a range of issues that they would not normally have the chance to explore. This is the one space where a young person can come and find the help and support they need, six days a week.”
