Racy first novel from local writer

FORMER motor cycle journalist Alastair Walker, who runs PJ’s Jewellers in Warrington, has now turned his hand to writing novels – and his first book is out on Amazon.
“The Lives and Lovers of The Pink Peppermint Lounge” takes a bittersweet look at the business of growing older disgracefully and is set in a 70s style disco not a million miles from Warrington itself.
The Peppermint is where three ladies of a certain age meet every Wednesday for Singles Nite dancing. Here, they sit like X Factor judges, rating the various men, who frequent the premises.
The book delves deeper into their failing marriages, racy affairs, humorous hi-jinks and more.
Packed with strong characters like Cal, a fifty-something single man wondering if he’ll ever find true love again, or Bendy Wendy, a Yoga-fit lady busily setting up a “private” club in the basement of her suburban home, the book is a racy, saucy and wickedly wry tale of modern times. From the slapstick comedy of Trevor, attempting to organise his DIY home improvement projects around a lively cat called Romeo, to the sadness that rests on Vera’s shoulders, as she cares for her poorly Mum, Peppermint Lounge is a chronicle of the passing years.
Wisdom is often hard won in life, and the characters wear their battle scars with pride, as they disco against the dying of the light.
Pink Peppermint Lounge is available as a paperback on Amazon Createspace, priced at £9.25 and as a downloadable eBook on Amazon Kindle, priced at £2.10.
