1,000 take part in council “dog poo” survey

THE strength of feeling across Warrington about dog fouling is illustrated by the fact that more than 1,000 residents have already taken part in a “dog poo” survey organised by the borough council.
But the council say there is still time for residents to have their say.
The council launched the survey to find out residents views on the problem and, with residents help, find innovative ways to tackle it. The survey is available to complete until May 1.
Peter Astley, the council’s assistant director for regulation and public protection, said: “We know that a lot of people are concerned about dog fouling and we have recently received a number of complaints specifically about fouling on playing fields and around schools.
“This survey is residents’ chance to let us know where dog fouling is an issue and for us to gain an understanding of their views which will help us shape what the council does next.
“Most dog owners act responsibly and pick up after their dogs and dispose of the waste bags correctly. Unfortunately a selfish few think it’s OK not to clean up after their pet.
“The cleaning up not only diverts council funds from other valuable services, it spoils our streets and is a health hazard.”
Responses to the survey will be confidential.

  1. Have you heard of a raw diet for dogs? Raw dog food can reduce both frequency and size of dog poop. It’s a healthy change as poop from dry/kibble and canned is full of filler (such as wheat, corn etc) and some of these products are only 4% meat!).

Raw is made up of meat (normally 60-80%), vegetables and ground bone. The poop excreted is hard, small and easier to pick up. Owners of bigger dogs would definitely benefit from changing.

Have a look at raw dog food supplier poppyspicnic.co.uk
