WORK to build a new Air Training Corp hut which left land at Lymm looking “desecrated” by the contractor is set to be improved.

Cllr Sheila Woodyatt received numerous complainst from local residents about the state of the land on Park Road off High Legh Road.

She said: “The old hut was a real mess and the new hut was badly needed.

“During the work to replace the hut the contractor churned up the grass and entrance to the site, leaving the area very muddy.

“Park Road itself was filthy and the contractor did not clean the road which meant local residents were treading mud into their houses.”

The land in question is owned by the MoD which caused complications.

Now following Cllr Woodyatt’s intervention the contractor has accepted responsibility for the damage and agreed to reinstate the area in the near future.

Meanwhile local residents are also planning to put is some shrubs and plants to brighten up the area.

The Borough Council is looking at what can be done to improve a nearby childrens’ play area.

Cllr Woodyatt added: “A full refurbishment would cost £70,000 but there is no funding available for that. But I have suggested they could update the swings and put in some see saws.”
