CULCHETH’S annual Community Day on the village green will have an “outer space” theme this year.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council has announced details of the event which this year will be on Monday, May 2.
The popular event raises money for good causes and attracts hundreds of local people.
The theme “Outer Space: fact and fiction” will permeate through much of the entertainment.
Featured performances will entertain young and old alike, and there will be the chance for Star Wars fans to come face to face with Darth Vader, the Jedi and even ride the X-Wing Starfighter.
There will be a celebration of British astronaut Tim Peake’s recent launch to the International Space Station. Visitors (particularly children) will be encouraged to attend in costume – light sabres and astronaut costumes are particularly encouraged!
There will also be the usual favourites – Trumble the Clown will entertain young children, fairground rides will be located in the village centre, there will be a pet show and the veteran car/motorcycle and tractor display.
Schools will have the opportunity to take part in both art and creative writing competitions, with exclusive space-themed prizes to be won.
Cheshire Police are also scheduled to have a unique slot on the village green.
The official opening will take place at 12 noon by local councillors Chris Vobe, Matt Smith and Joan Grime.
Cllr Smith said: “Once again, Community Day will be an event not to be missed. Already, dozens of organisations have signed up to take part and help us raise money for charity.
“This year, there really is something for everyone – whether its entertainment from classic acts like Trumble the Clown, or one of our outer-space themed attractions, we warmly invite everyone to make sure Culcheth Community Day is on your calendar for May 2. It’s not to be
missed!”
