Kitchen fire threatened neighbouring houses

FIRE crews were called out to a house fire at Warrington – and ended up checking neighbouring properties because  the blaze was threatening to spread.
The fire was in Grisedale Avenue, Orford and two fire engines went to the scene.
They found the fire was in the kitchen of an end terrace house and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the flames using two horse reel jets.
Afterwards, neighbouring houses were checked to ensure the flames had not spread.
There were no reports of injuries.
In another incident, vandals set fire to a wheelie bin on Bennett’s Recreation Ground at Padgate, Warrington.
And a large bonfire off Manchester Road, Woolston, Warrington had to be extinghished by firefighters from Birchwood because dense smoke was causing visibility problems on the M6.
Anyone with information about the bin fire at Padgate is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
