WARRINGTON Museum and Art Gallery is inviting visitors to take “selfies” in front of their favourite collections on Wednesday January 20 – international Museum Selfie Day.
The internet event, now in its third year, invites visitors, curators, and museum staff to snap a photo of themselves in front of their favourite exhibition and share it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Visitors at Warrington Museum can take a snap in front of the Shadow Catchers exhibition which explores Warrington’s past through the lenses of local photographers.
They can also use other exhibitions in residence including Goodbye Mr Smiths, Made in Warrington: Steel, Stitch and Soap or Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as a backdrop to capture a selfie.
Last year’s event proved to be popular with major galleries all over the world taking to social media to share their best selfies including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Natural History Museum in London.
Derek Dick, outreach and engagement manager at Culture Warrington, said:
“Museum Selfie Day is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to come and see our new exciting exhibitions and also take a snap of themselves in front of some of the museum’s best-loved collections – everyone has their favourite.”
You can share your image on January 20 using the hashtag #MuseumSelfie
