  1. Warrington to become a city???
This has to be a joke surely?
My recycling bin disappeared last week after collection ( presumed eaten by the bin wagon) and WBC have advised that they hope to supply a replacement in 10 WEEKS!!
    City status? Hilarious suggestion !

  2. Terry O’Neill certainly sounds sincere in wanting to progress Warrington but can he really believe he has the right officers in place to produce anything beneficial? It sounds to me as though he has been somewhat brainwashed. How could anyone trust the judgement of Andy Farrell after the mess he made in Chester and some of the bungling he’s already done here in Warrington?
All this ‘growth and greatness’ seems to be just pie in the sky. WBC have raised £150 million in bonds to ensure the progression of the Town Centre Regeneration – it is extremely risky and the people of Warrington could well end up paying these debts back for many years to come. And whilst Terry and Co remain to carry the can the ego fanning officers will be free to move on to fan their ego’s elsewhere.
I think the planned town centre regeneration will be the biggest disaster to ever befall Warrington – What is so sad is that all that money could have been used to create something of long lasting benefit to the town. The beautiful buildings in Bridge St could have been restored and could have been a major attraction, as it stands it looks like they will be grossly overshadowed by tasteless tack.
Have none of our councillors done any research on the cinema industry? it is in serious decline. There are examples of these being built and within a couple of years going bust only to be converted into indoor festival areas – is this what is really wanted in Warrington town centre?
If the great plans go ahead they may as well name the new city Warehouseville because Warrington will be totally destroyed.
As for devolution and WBC gaining more power to make decisions – unless they firstly make some wise decisions about who they employ as the town’s senior officers, I pray this never happens.
