Four bars rewarded for making the town safer

FOUR town centre bars at Warrington have been named as ArcAngel accredited premises – confirming their commitment to making the town a safer place to enjoy a night out.
The four bars are the Postern Gate, Dead Eyes, The Barley Mow and The Bluebell.
Each premises received their prestigious awards from Cheshire Police’s town centre beat manager, PC Dan Gee, with Inspector Neil Drum and Warrington Borough Council deputy leader Cllr Mike Hannon (pictured above).
Inspector Drum said: “We are all committed to working together to make Warrington a safer place to enjoy a night out. Another four premises have  received their ArcAngel protected accreditation showing a clear drive and commitment to reducing alcohol related crime in the town centre.
“The premises have received the certificates in recognition of their hard work so far and ongoing commitment to maintaining standards. It recognises the work done by licensees to encourage responsible drinking in their premises and in the town centre as well as discouraging drinking in public and alcohol-related, anti-social behaviour.”
Cllr Hannon said: “We have done a lot of work with licensees in recent times to ensure that our night time economy is safe and welcoming. I am very pleased that the trade is working together with us and these awards demonstrate the licensees’ commitment to reducing alcohol related crime in the town.
“We are committed to providing a safe, well balanced and vibrant night time economy for people to enjoy and maintaining high standards for our town.”
ArcAngel is the joint approach to tackling alcohol-related crime between Cheshire Police and a number of agencies including the borough council and community safety partners who use a range of strategies and powers to deal with alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour.
It aims to encourage responsible drinking, discourage binge drinking and drinking in public places, it targets hotspot locations and prolific and persistent offenders of alcohol-related violent crime.
It also aims to raise public awareness of the issues of alcohol-related violence and disorder and the penalties that will be imposed against offenders.
