A seriously funny look at a typical family Christmas

FRODSHAM Players will offer a seriously hilarious look at the ups and downs of a typical family Christmas with their production at Frodsham Community Centre on December 2-5.

Michael Mills will direct Alan Ayckbourn’s masterly “Season’s Greetings” – a black, though often farcical, comedy about a dysfunctional family Christmas, set over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day in an average English suburban house.

All the family have gathered together for the festivities. But as the children lurk just out of sight, it’s the adults who are letting the side down.

Presiding over it all are two warring uncles – Harvey, a bullying, retired security guard who keeps the TV remote to himself, buys toy guns for his nieces and believes there’s a thief in the party, and Bernard, a kindly, incompetent doctor with an interminable puppet show to perform. As the Christmas celebrations get underway, there’s cheating at snakes and ladders, fighting over comic books and a bungled infidelity beneath the tree.

The cast consists of Richard Spillman, Carol Crooks, David Leslie, Gordon Aspden, Derinda Watson, Julia Burgess, Jake Powell, Vicky Marshall and Ian Lancaster.

The show starts at 7.30pm each evening and tickets at £9 are available from www.frodshamplayers.com or by calling 01928 732285.
